Applied Piezo present during Precision Fair
Applied Piezo is present during the Precision Fair (November 26 & 27, 2008) in Veldhoven, the Netherlands. During the 2-day exhibition there will be a "Piezo Boulevard" with companies and institutes showing their newest develoments. Like last year we will show interesting developments and expect many visitors. A special attention will be given to the piezo course as developed by Applied Piezo – SmartPie.

Applied Piezo is a sponsor of the Electroceramics XI conference in Manchester
The Electroceramics XI conference in Manchester takes place from 1-3 september 2008. We have a little information booth in the hall of the conference.
Two people from our SmartPie research project will be speaking at the conference. On Tuesday as invited speaker professor Dave Blank from Twente University on thin film and Daan van der Ende from TNO on piezo composites. Daan works together with Pim Groen who is also attending the conference. In his presentation Daan will comment on an interesting relationship between the calcining temperature of the PZT powder and the ferroelectric properties of the composites. Jan Peters, the Applied Piezo Chairman, will also be present during this three day conference. You can contact either of them at the Applied Piezo info desk.

Symposium “Design meets Piezo” 22 mei 2008
Met gepaste trots presenteren wij u het 1e symposium van ons samenwerkingsproject met Kennisdock Innovatie en Materialen (KIM).

Design meets Piezo is een initiatief van de Stichting Applied Piezo, KIM en het IDC. Doelstelling is kennisoverdracht van piëzo technologie naar ontwerpers en productontwikkelaars.

Piëzo materialen zijn één van de belangrijke materialen van de nabije toekomst. Piëzo is echter nog vrij onbekend bij ontwerpers en productontwikkelaars en dat terwijl we waarschijnlijk allemaal al eens een product in de hand gehad hebben waarin piëzo technologie verwerkt is. Voorbeelden van toepassing van piëzo in producten zijn: Apple’s I-Phone, LG’s Chocolate phone, Bang & Olufsen’s BeoCenter, Nokia Phones, Tieman Braille computer, energie opwekkers voor de bandenspanningsmeter, dieselinjectoren, bankautomaten, actieve demping voor high-tech machines en robuuste piëzo schakelaars en bedienpanelen. 

Het symposium bestaat uit twee delen:

De 1e dag 22 mei 2008 – thema: kennisoverdracht

De 2e dag 12 juni 2008 – thema: kennistoepassing

Op de 1e dag zullen een aantal sprekers het onderwerp toelichten, met als hoogtepunt een gastspreker van Nokia uit Finland.
