06 Dec 2010,
SolMateS has won the Young Technology Award 2010! Beside this first prize of 5000 euro, SolMateS also won the public price of 1000 euro. Therefore SolMates wants to thank the public for their vote.

The award is intended as an incentive for young, promising and innovative companies from eastern Netherlands. Jury President Carry Abbenhues (delegate
Overijssel province) named the company a mini ASML,with a lot of potential. Entrepreneur Arjen Janssens received the prize of 5000 euros from Kennispark and Innovatieplatform Twente.

Solmates

Solmates is able to create movement on a chip. So far this was not possible in the chip industry. By adding a special piezo layer in the chip production, endless possibilities are created. A piezolayer on the chip will make print heads last longer and become cheaper.

Jury

The jury that reviewed the cases consisted of Carry Abbenhues (delegate Economy, Labour and Tourism for the Province Overijssel), Erik Heersink (founder of I-Real BV) and Job Elders (founder of the nanotechnology company recently sold C2V). The jury mentioned all the pitches were inspiring and valuable, but found Solmates the most promising company. Arjen Janssens knows the risks are high, but he also knows that if the product does what it promises, immediately international rivals will be there, "said Abbenhues.
